Shape the Look You’ve Always Wanted

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammoplasty, is a type of cosmetic surgery that uses breast implants or fat transfer to increase breast size and improve shape. You might be looking to feel more confident in your clothes, even things out after pregnancy, or simply add volume to match how you feel on the inside. No matter your reason, we'll help you find the option that fits you best, whether that's silicone, saline, or a fat grafting approach. At Eliopoulos Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, Dr. Eliopoulos offers the most advanced techniques using silicone breast implants, saline breast implants, and even fat transfer breast augmentation for a more natural breast augmentation approach.

Confidence Starts Here

Breast Augmentation Benefits

A lot of people think breast augmentation is just about size, but it can actually help with all kinds of things, like bringing your body into better balance or feeling more like yourself after major life changes. Here are some of the benefits that matter most to our patients:

  • Adds volume and shape to the breasts
  • Restores fullness lost from weight changes, aging, or pregnancy
  • Can correct unevenness between breasts
  • Helps clothing and swimwear fit better
  • Boosts self-confidence

Some patients also pair breast augmentation with a breast lift to improve sagging, which can often be done during the same recovery window.

Let’s See If It’s Right For You

Breast Augmentation Candidates

Most people in good health make great candidates for breast augmentation, especially if they're feeling unhappy with their current breast appearance or volume. It's a good fit if you:

  • Want to change your breast size or shape
  • Have lost volume from weight loss, pregnancy, or aging
  • Feel like your breasts are out of proportion with the rest of your body
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are over 18 for saline implants or over 22 for silicone implants

Certain conditions, like a history of breast implant illness, autoimmune disorders, or allergies to anesthesia, may affect your candidacy. If you've had breast surgery in the past or have concerns about things like breast implant illness, we'll walk through all of that together and talk about your options.

Planning with Confidence

Consultation and Preparation

Your breast augmentation consultation is where everything starts. You'll meet with Dr. Eliopoulos, and the two of you will talk through what you're hoping to change, how you want to look, and how we can help you get there. We'll go over:

  • What size and shape feels right to you
  • The difference between saline and silicone implants
  • Where the incisions will go
  • Whether you're also thinking about a breast lift
  • What to expect before and after surgery

You'll also try out implant sizers to see how different options might look on your body. If you decide to move forward, we'll send you home with simple prep instructions and be there to support you every step of the way.

What to Expect

Dr. Dina Eliopoulos has over 2 decades of experience as a board-certified plastic surgeon, with a reputation for dedication, surgical excellence, and professionalism. The purpose of her consultation is not to “convince you” to undergo a procedure, but to learn about your goals and educate you on your surgical options.

Your Look, Your Way

Choosing the Right Breast Implant

No two bodies, or goals, are alike, which is why we take a fully personalized approach to selecting breast implants. There are a few choices to make when it comes to breast implants, and we'll help you figure out what feels right for your body and lifestyle.

Here are a few choices we'll explore together:

  • Saline Implants: These are filled with sterile saltwater and can be adjusted during surgery for small differences between breasts. They have a firmer feel and are approved for people 18 and up.
  • Silicone Implants: These feel softer and more natural. They come pre-filled with silicone gel and are approved for people 22 and older. Many patients prefer the look and feel of these.
  • Smooth vs. Textured Implants: Smooth implants move naturally with your body. Textured implants may stay in place better, but are less commonly used today.
  • Round vs. Teardrop Implants: Round implants give more fullness at the top of the breast (upper pole fullness), while teardrop implants create a more sloped, natural shape.

We'll also talk about implant shell type, risks of implant rupture, and how different options might work with your chest muscle and breast tissue.

Where It Goes Matters

Breast Implant Placement

Where your implant is placed matters just as much as the implant itself. There are two main options:

  • Over the Muscle (Subglandular): The implant goes behind the breast tissue but in front of the pectoralis muscle. This option can mean less recovery time, but it may not work for everyone.
  • Under the Muscle (Submuscular): The implant is placed behind the chest muscle. This often gives a more natural look and can lower the chance of rippling or scar tissue buildup (capsular contracture).

Dr. Eliopoulos will help you decide what makes the most sense for your body and the kind of look you're going for.

Hidden, Thoughtful, and Minimal

Breast Implant Incisions

Your incision type depends on your body and implant choice. We aim for small, well-hidden scars and long-lasting results. Here are the most common incision spots:

  • Inframammary (Under the Breast Fold) – This is the most common choice and usually gives the best access and control during surgery.
  • Periareolar (Around the Nipple) – This option hides the scar along the edge of the areola and works well in some cases.
  • Transaxillary (In the Armpit) – Not used as often, but it's an option for patients looking to avoid a scar on the breast itself.

We'll talk through what makes the most sense for you and what to expect for healing.

Smooth, Safe, and Thoughtfully Done

Your Breast Implant Procedure

Breast augmentation surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. The entire surgical procedure generally takes about one to two hours. Here's a quick breakdown of what to expect:

  • You'll arrive on the day of surgery and meet with your surgical team. Dr. Eliopoulos will review your plan and answer any last-minute questions.
  • After anesthesia is administered, Dr. Eliopoulos will perform the incision and create a space for the implant, either over or under the pectoralis muscle, depending on your plan.
  • The selected saline or silicone implants are carefully inserted and positioned.
  • The incisions are closed with precision to minimize scar tissue, and you'll be taken to recovery.

You'll go home the same day with full instructions on how to rest and heal.

Let Your Body (and Results) Settle In

Results, Recovery, and Aftercare

Most patients begin to notice results immediately, but your final look will continue to refine over the following weeks as swelling subsides and the implants settle into place, often referred to as the "drop and fluff" phase.

Here's what you can expect post-surgery:

  • Downtime: Plan for about 1 week off from work or daily responsibilities. Most patients feel well enough to resume light activity within a few days.
  • Support Garments: A surgical bra or compression garment may be recommended to support healing and shape.
  • Scar Care: We'll give you a custom scar care plan to minimize breast augmentation scars and support smooth healing.
  • Avoid: Strenuous workouts, heavy lifting, or raising your arms overhead for a few weeks, especially if your implants are under the pectoral muscle.

Most patients see full results within three to six months, and with proper care, silicone breast implants or saline implants can last for many years. We'll also schedule regular follow-ups to ensure your recovery is smooth and your results remain as stunning as the day of surgery.
